Focus on severe and chronic diseases

Camurus is committed to improving treatment outcomes and quality of life for people with severe and chronic diseases. We focus on diseases of the central nervous system (CNS), rare diseases, endocrine disorders, oncology and supportive care.

Rare diseases

Rare diseases affect a small number of people compared to the size of the general population, and are often genetic, chronic, and life-threatening. More than 400 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with a rare disease.2,3 On average, a rare disease takes over four years to diagnose and only five percent of rare diseases today have an effective treatment.3,4

Cancer is a group of diseases where cells in a specific part of the body grow and divide uncontrollably, potentially spreading to other parts of the body. There are more than 200 different types of cancer and cancer is today the leading cause of death worldwide5,6 Often the burden of cancer can be reduced by an early detection and appropriate treatment and care.6

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a serious, chronic and relapsing disease with high burden on society, the affected individuals and their families. OUD can impact all aspects of a person’s daily life and is often associated with social stigma and social exclusion.1
